POOR SERVICE - AWFUL BALANCING - BUT NICE CRANK (WHEN IT EVENTUALLY ARRIVES)

Ordered a steel crank. 20 week delivery. Paid the 50% deposit and signed technical sheet in June.
In November I was told it was ready for heat treatment, so paid the remaining 50% as instructed immediately. Then the delivery date kept being moved further and further back. Then hardly any replies to emails or vague responses when I did get one.... no one could tell me where it was, it’s present status, or a delivery date.... Now when your over £1600 out of pocket, with nothing to show for it, that’s a sure way to further upset a customer.
Start of January I issued them 14days to fully refund me, or complete the crank, they did neither.
Crankshaft didn’t arrive until the start of February. No compensation or discount or even a gesture of good will for the delay despite being outside of the agreed 20 week contract.
I started doing a bit of research and this seems to be a common story, also spoke to a few engine builders that strongly advised I got the crank checked for balance as they have had problems with farndons previously. This wasn’t something I was expecting to do as the cranks are balanced at farndons, however I decided I had better get it checked (I’m lucky to have a guy about an hours drive away with over 40 years experience crankshaft balancing)
IT WAS 26g OUT OF BALANCE!!
For reference, most cast OE cranks are within 5g. So this is huge, especially on a 9000+rpm race engine. (We was able to get it to within 1g after balancing - an extra service I had to pay for)

In short, do not deal with farndons if you need it within a year, and getting it balanced is a must!!
